New Elementary School Reporting of Academic Progress

It is our overall goal to deepen our communication with parents through shared digital portfolios, in-person conferences, and revised report cards that reflect not only key benchmarks in our curriculum but also our focus on understanding and supporting every student as a learner and community member.

To better align with our curriculum and the four Units of Exploration, we have moved the timing of reports and conferences from a trimester to a quarterly cadence.

November 6-8: Quarter 1 Parent Teacher and Student-Led conference with written checklist
December 20: Semester 1 Progress Report
March 18-20: Quarter 3 Parent Teacher and Student-led conference with written checklist
June 26: Semester 2 Progress Report

Students in Grades 3-5 will participate in both conferences, while students in K-2 will participate in just the spring conference. At the end of the 2nd and 4th quarters, we will communicate your child’s progress and growth through a written report, which we will share more details about at a later time.

At conferences, teachers will share work samples and a checklist of key benchmarks. The homeroom checklist captures students' progress in Chinese and math, and the English checklist includes key foundational and comprehension skills. These written progress checklists will be provided to families at the conference and be used to guide the discussion about your child’s academic progress. Of course, this is just one aspect of your child's learning and growth this year, and our goal is to share with you a holistic picture of your child as a learner. We will share these additional observations and insights through discussion as well as your child's online portfolio in Seesaw.

We are excited to share all these changes with you, and look forward to your suggestions and feedback as we roll out these enhancements.
