Life together at PKS
Every PKS parent and guardian is a member of the Parent Association (PA), a volunteer-led organization that helps build connections among families and strengthen the life of our school.
From welcoming new families and supporting classroom connections to organizing events, celebrating faculty and staff, and bringing beloved traditions to life, the PA creates opportunities for families to participate in the PKS community.
PKS families bring a remarkable range of experiences, interests, and talents to our community, and there is no single way to contribute. Whether volunteering for an event, sharing a skill, helping with a classroom activity, or taking on a leadership role, families are invited to participate in ways that feel meaningful and sustainable.
Every family’s capacity is different. What matters is not how much time you give, but the connections we create when families take part in the life of our school.

Room Parents
Parents who partner with teachers to coordinate classroom celebrations, support activities, and help build community throughout the year.
Parents Night Out
The first community event of the year, a casual gathering where parents and caregivers across the school can relax, connect, and get to know one another.
Grandfriends Day
Grandparents and treasured family friends join students for a morning of connection and gratitude the before Thanksgiving holiday.
Lunar New Year Celebration
A beloved whole‑school celebration of the Lunar New Year, featuring vibrant performances, games, and festive food.
Chinese New Year Parade
An opportunity for students to perform and march in the iconic San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade.
Gingko Gala
Annual spring benefit and celebration in support of the Opportunity Fund, which benefits our Adjusted Tuition program.
Field Day
A parent led afternoon at the park celebrating the end of the school year with food, games, and community.
Affinity/Interest Groups
Join groups of parents and caregivers with shared identities or interests to create connection throughout the school year.
Yearbook
A community effort to create yearbooks that lets us reflect on our students’ learnings and memories.
