Athletics

Overview

PKS students explore movement and mindfulness throughout their years here. Preschoolers are guided by experienced dance and yoga instructors, and learn to move with confidence and joy. In the elementary grades, physical education classes combine traditional sports with creative and expansive physical challenges. In middle school, students can join PKS junior varsity and varsity sports teams that compete in the San Francisco Independent Athletic League. The championship banners in Pioneer Hall are a testament to our thriving sports program!

We seek to help our students embody 生龙活虎 – the energy and vitality of a tiger and dragon, with confidence to thrive on the field and beyond.

For families who choose to participate, our microsoccer program introduces P2-G1 students to the fun of team sports through weekly practices and Saturday games led by parent volunteer coaches. Beginning in G2, families are encouraged to pursue external sports opportunities.

Our vibrant, inclusive, competitive athletics program runs one sport per season, with a JV and varsity team for each: volleyball in the fall, basketball in the winter, and footsal in the spring. We play in the San Francisco Independent Athletic League (SFIAL). No previous experience required to join a team, and practices are built into the school day.
