One important aspect of a "progressive" approach to education is giving students the opportunity to showcase their work. Today, PKS second graders had such an opportunity. As a capstone to their Our City unit of exploration, they built Golden Gate Bridges, simulated earthquakes, and - in one case - sold cupcakes to benefit the homeless.
