Applying to PKS

Our admissions process invites you to learn more about our program, community, and the experience of learning in a progressive Mandarin immersion environment. You may submit an inquiry at any time, and the PKS application is now open for the 2024-2025 school year.

Language requirements:

Students are not required to speak Mandarin to enroll in preschool or kindergarten. Appropriate grade-level proficiency is expected for students enrolling in grades 1-8; we can help determine an applicant’s readiness on a case by case basis.

Age requirements:

  • Preschool Year 1 (P1): 2 years by June 1, 2024

  • Preschool Year 2 (P2): 3 years by August 1, 2024

  • Preschool Year 3 (P3): 4 years by August 1, 2024

  • Kindergarten: 5 years by August 1, 2024

  • Grades 1-8: Completion of the prior grade

Admissions process:

  • Step 1 Let us know you’re interested by completing an inquiry form (there is no obligation to submit an application, this simply keeps you up to date and allows you to register for admissions events)

  • Step 2 Get to know us (attend information sessions, tours, and other events)

  • Step 3 Complete the application (and any division-specific components), apply for tuition assistance if needed

  • Step 4 Let us get to know you (parent/guardian interview, and an opportunity to meet your child)

Admissions timeline for the 2024-2025 school year (August start)

  • September 2023: Admissions applications open

  • October - January 2023: Admissions events (information sessions, tours, etc.) 

  • November 1, 2023: Tuition assistance applications open (optional)

  • January 10, 2024: Admissions applications due - Preschool, Elementary (Grade 4)

  • January 18, 2024: Admissions applications due - Middle School (Grade 5-8)

  • January 31, 2024: Tuition assistance applications due (optional)

  • January - March 2024: Parent/guardian meetings, student visits and assessments (grade-level dependent)

  • March 5, 2024: Preschool admissions decisions and tuition assistance awards emailed (family decision due March 12, 2024)

  • March 14, 2024: K-8 admissions decisions and tuition assistance awards emailed (family decision due March 21, 2024)

  • March 31, 2024: Final 2023 tax returns and supporting documents due for conditional offers of tuition assistance
